Autopoeitic ecosystems after bakawan from the front to the back end of radyo itim

DJ Sei Tan and DJ Future initially coordinated with DJ Memory regarding the participation of Radyo Itim under the Civ:Lab initiative. The initiative would become part of common space/ swarm bibliotheque. The preparation began during the terms x agreement discursive project by Merv Espina, trying to gather folks from the info shop and artist run spaces. At least three info shop were involved and a curatorial project met half-way across the globe. Lian Ladia of Planting Rice along with England Hidalgo of Over x Out approached Bas Umali of Onsite Info Shop. Which in turn prepared a program of activities on the side. DJ Future and DJ Memory were preparing a complimentary proposal. By December, DJ Sei Tan approached several people to partake with the Radyo Itim open program. Meanwhile, DJ Future also prepared a workable plan to accommodate “others” and outside the circle.
If you take a look, it seems like a crossword puzzle with across and downs, a regular schedule of Saturdays were intended for survival, sustainability, ecology and resistance radio. Apart form the regular two hour runs during the weekends, there were also twice a week discussions and skills-sharing recorded live and broadcasted every Sundays. During the first three days, during the opening and a couple of days getting the feel of the terrain within the common space. There were anxieties and reservations, during the next three weeks, confidence was slowly and painstakingly gained. Foot traffic and noise management were issues of the day, yet parties involved, silently took part with the contestation and negotiation of the common, shared, open and mutual space. DJ Claire’s programming was more conventional and pleasing to the ears with everyday topics and well-selected playlist. While DJ Shadow, DJ Magdalene and DJ Lukinda also took turns about issues on the environment, gender and art.

The closing week was a peek of the future multi-platform outcomes. During the first week of pirate box, survival kitchen and solar set-up with a  test broadcast, was all part of a faint and distant memory. The Trade and Upcycling workshop and Kamote Revolution was an exercise if imagining the future. Mag-isa Collective and Ako Media lodged a series of activities which stirred the limits of the museum space like SKAM (Sining Kalye ay Masaya) in the museum, a library of shoplifted books, outside the museum and junk inside the museum. The last series of talks and skills-sharing co-organized by Info Shop Marinduque and Marindukanon Studies Center rehashed and punctuated several themes from the previous four weeks like Pag-iral about survival, Likas-Kaya on sustainable practices. Oikos: ecology and economics regarding spaces in transit along with an exchange between SIKAP (Sandigan para sa Ikauunlad ng Kamalayang maka-Araling Pilipino) and DANUM (Dalubhasaan ng mga Umuusbong na Mag-aaral ng Araling Filipino). The last day was not the end but a historical marker, March 14, 2015 was incidentally Pi day, a metric to measure the whole circle. It was both a revelation and surprise-filled DJ Shadow and DJ Wazak Dela Rocha, participated, Mutual Aid Not Charity, Filipino Cultural Creative with DJ Fatal Sounds and Maharlika Integral Emergence joined via skype. It was a loop, a life on its own.
