1. My long term goal is to put up a local studies center in
Marinduque. It would be both a gallery and library, in other words an offline
and online resource center. It would become a hub which would interest artists,
researchers, cultural workers and development-oriented groups. From ASEAN 2015
integration up to the year 2020, Marinduque would be celebrating its centennial
of becoming autonomous from other provinces like Mindoro, Batangas and Quezon.
2. I am keen on obtaining a higher degree to broaden and
deepen my knowledge with grounded practice of cultural education management
centered on Marinduque. But it is not limited to the island-province only. I am
optimistic that the Marindukanon Studies Center/ Info Shop Marinduque. Could
reach and aggregate with other island provinces in the country along with other
ASEAN member countries.
3. With the MSC/ ISM already emplaced, as a direct and
grounded application of local/ periphery studies it would also activate and
establish creative and solidarity economics. Enabling culture and ecology
vis-à-vis economic development is a virtual potentiality. This is not a remote possibility by having the
island province of Marinduque as a test case, a scale model and simulation of
creative commons.
4. I think I have the track record and consistency to
coordinate, organize and create tools for conviviality. With proper training
and funding opportunities, I could make a dent in Marindukanon Studies likewise
in Filipinology.
5. If I would get accepted in the PHARFIL program, I would
initiate Marindukanon Studies Center and Info Shop Marinduque. First by
establishing a mechanism for a research fellowship, coordinating with funding
institutions and supporting local researches along with cultural activities. I
would be coordinating with existing local cultural groups like Sining at
Kulturang Mogpogeño and the Gasan Culture and Arts Foundation Inc. The other component, apart from research,
there would be mentoring and generating of local content to be exhibited or
shown in other parts of the country or even globally. Like for example, the 11th
Sunrise festival in Calbayog City, Samar could be a working model of a roving
festival of research and artistic output in Marinduque.
