2nd Quarter BOT Report GAD Accomplishment

This is in regard with the accomplishment report during the month of April 2013 for your perusal and reference. The Gender Advancement and Development unit has proposed to be involved in several activities during the summer break. The said unit was invited to participate in the summer courses offered by Miriam College’s Women and Gender Institute (WAGI). Likewise the GAD unit along with other proponents prepared an oral presentation on Inang Uyang to be presented on May 16 to 19 during the 5th South and Southeast Asian Study on Religion. Mr. Ricardo Licon and Mrs. Maria Victoria Miciano with the GAD Director met on April 11 to collected the preliminary data to ascertain whether she is a mystic or a saint. The Ceramics and Pottery Association of Mogpog participated in the town’s fair during the month of May. In honor of Saint Isidro Labrador whose feast day on May 15, the Ceramics and Pottery Association showcased their products along the booth in Mogpog.


The Gender Advancement and Development unit has been able to present the preliminary proceedings of Inang Uyang studies during the 5th South and Southeast Asia Study of Religions last May 17 at the Royal and Pontifical University of Sto. Tomas. The said unit was invited to participate a series of meeting in putting a local network of scholars on the study of religion and cultures in the Philippines. The country representative Fr. Hormel Pana of UST and UP Anthropology Department would be convening scholars of cultures and religions in the country with representative from Olongapo, Leyte, Marinduque and Marawi City.
