1 Billion Rising in Marinduque

ONE BILLION RISING
On V-Day’s 15th Anniversary, 2.14.13, we are
inviting ONE BILLION women and those who
love them to WALK OUT, DANCE, RISE UP,
and DEMAND an end to this violence. ONE
BILLION RISING will move the earth, activating
women and men across every country.
V-Day wants the world to see our collective
strength, our numbers, our solidarity across
borders.
What does ONE BILLION look like? On February
14th, 2013, it will look like a REVOLUTION.
ONE BILLION RISING IS:
A global strike
An invitation to dance
A call to men and women to refuse to participate
in the status quo until rape and rape culture
ends
An act of solidarity, demonstrating to women the commonality
of their struggles and their power in numbers
A refusal to accept violence against women and girls
as a given
A new time and a new way of being

Gender Sensitivity Training ++
Usually, when newcomers approach Gender and
Development for the first time, they might need a
baseline orientation. Before anything else, they undergo
Gender Sensitivity Training. It includes basic
differences between sex and gender, history of gender
development, gender issues and some mainstreaming
procedures. It seldom includes a similar counterpart
about Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender sexual
orientation and gender identity. While GST might take
at least three-to-five sessions, making it a bit shorter
might lose some emphasis on its biological and social
aspects. More so, if the LGBT orientation is included.
Women and LGBT concerns are not the same but both
are gender issues. So, therefore, it must included in the
Gender and Development work.

Sta. Cruz Institute gets Queer
Despite the short notice, being a fellow UP Alumni
and MSC instructor, PDI correspondent Gerald Gene
Querubin, I obliged. I arrived early, fortunately the
power went off. Mr. Querubin fetched me and we had
coffee and a couple of smokes. I arranged my stuff, Sir
GQ asked the technician to run the generator. Some
150 students from education, computer technology
and accounting was full packed. During the next two
hours, I showed an excerpt from the novel-turned to
movie The Girl with a dragon tattoo and a power point
presentation on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Nagmula sa Marinduque State College Gender Advancement
and Development ang isa sa mga pangunahing

kasarian sa wikang ingles ay genders at seks. Pagkatapos,
nagkaroon ng palabas ng bahagi ng ng pelikulang
