38th MMFF parade of the stars/ El president film review

A total of 8 floats: Si Agimat, Enteng Kabisote at si Ako, Sisterakas, The Strangers, One More Try, Invasion: Shake, Rattle and Roll 14, Sosy problems, Thy womb and El President reclaimed the streets along with the hearts and minds of Filipno audience. The opening day coincided with Christmas day. Children, adults, and teens flocked to the movie houses and caster unwitting votes to the box office to determine who’s got the bragging rights.

Quite a long running time of at least 3 hours is justified from the film is truly larger than life. Emilio Aguinaldo is a complex character and truly his story could only be told in great detail and epic proportions. While Thy womb has reaped numerous awards from abroad, I haven’t watched the movie yet/ knowing Nora Aunor, the lead actor, and Brillante Mendoza, the man behind the camera does not guarantee the same results. It’s been a very difficult to determine of the Filipino audience has developed good taste over time or is it too early to tell?
