[g8-int] CALL FOR ACTION ON 27 JULY AGAINST THE AIRPORT IN NOTRE DAME DES LANDES

From the Zone A Défendre (ZAD) occupation, together with the coalition of associations and movements opposed to the airport project of Notre-Dame-des-Landes, including the Solidaires trade union, DAL 44, CODELIB, Libertarian Front St Nazaire, and St Nazaire CNT.

Against state and corporate intimidation

Opposition to the construction of a new airport and related infrastructure in and around Notre-Dame-des-Landes has held strong for over 40 years and continues to grow with renewed urgency today. Indifferent to the concerns of local people and their supporters worldwide, the French government and private business interests refuse to back down, preparing to force the project through with police action and legal intimidation. Residents of the area marked out for the construction of the airport have been summoned to attend eviction hearings on August 17 in Saint-Nazaire. The first to be targeted are ourselves, members of the ZAD occupation who are squatting land and buildings in peaceful protest against the project. After us, attention will turn to homeowners and tenants.

We will not be moved! Notre-Dame-des-Landes is a living community, and has a right to keep on living. We will not be complicit through our silence as this life is sacrificed, in concrete and steel, for private gain and political convenience.

We call all those who share our opposition to the airport project to meet on July 27 at 3pm in the car park of Nantes Atlantique airport (by the express shuttle drop-off point), to unite in solidarity against the destruction of Notre-Dame-des-Landes, against forced evictions and to continue raising the profile of this campaign of resistance.

They want us out – let's pay them a visit! Bring banners, flyers, music, coffee and snacks, tents and chairs, anger and determination …

27th of July 27th at 3pm: let's meet at Nantes Atlantique for an occupation and a festival!

Meeting point: 3pm by the express shuttle drop-off point (nearest bus stop is Arret Minute, alternatively enter quietly on your own inside the airport).

If you need or can provide carsharing, meet at 2:30pm at the last stop of tram 3 (Neustria).

Those coming by car can park along the road near the roundabout near the airport.

Upcoming dates:
30 July at 4pm: General Assembly to organize against the evictions at “les Planchettes” (2 km from the Paquelais on the road to Fay-de-Bretagne, on the road D281)
17 August at 8am: rally outside the court of St-Nazaire (54, rue de la Paix) for the eviction hearings.
